Leadership Impact: Strategies for Tackling Culture
Amber Peterson, Peterson & Perme Associates

Culture is a complex issue and challenges even the best leaders when issues arise around recruitment, retention, and employee engagement. It can feel unwieldy and overwhelming, with too many possible directions to go and no guarantee that any path may make a meaningful difference.

Starting a shift in your culture doesn’t have to be complicated – the fact is, the impact one person can have in an organization is no small thing to take for granted, particularly a leader’s impact. Leaders can create ripples that affect the organization for decades to come, and through shifts in strategy, this power the leader holds can be harnessed to direct the organization to its most constructive self. It is up to that leader, and that leader alone, to decide how they must shift their impact to drive the kind of culture that lays the foundation for excellence in service.

Michigan Firehouse Museum

Established as a 501c3 non-profit in 1998, the Michigan Firehouse Museum and Education Center's mission is to enhance the appreciation of firefighting history through engaging and informative exhibits, as well as to teach and promote fire safety. Located in the historic district of Ypsilanti, MI, the museum features an original 1898 firehouse complete with bunk area and brass pole. A modern, multi-level exhibit area was constructed in 2002. The entire Museum encompasses a total area of over 26,000 square feet. Our exhibits feature the history of fire fighting in the State of Michigan and the evolution of fire fighting technology. We actively collect Michigan firefighting equipment and related archival materials. Our collections include fire trucks, extinguishers, emblems, bells, hats, helmets, ladders, breathing apparatus, clothing, hose carts, nozzles, toy fire trucks, and more!

Assisting members  in their efforts to promote effective fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, and other emergency services through educational, technical, and legislative means.
