The Chief Officer Role in Safety Culture

Establishing a culture of safety in an organization requires the support of the senior officers of the fire department. Understanding risk and the need to do the job must be balanced with the discipline to know when to go and when the risk won’t be rewarded. There are many threats to firefighters and getting the entire organization to view the options is essential in avoiding preventable injuries.

Assisting members in their efforts to promote effective fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, and other emergency services through educational, technical, and legislative means.
