In December of 2008 advocates of fire and life safety petitioned to add a second section to MAFC which will complement the organization and allow membership to provide leadership across the state for fire and life safety.

The Fire and Life Safety section of the Michigan Chiefs will provide leadership and vision for the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs and the Michigan fire service community in reducing the risk of injury, loss of life, and property loss in our communities through fire prevention efforts by creating a resource for information, services and training of our members.  This section will work closely with other organizations, such as the Michigan Fire Inspector’s Society, to provide leadership in statewide code development and international code development.
