EMS Section

EMS Section Intro

Over the past few months as I have watched the workings of the State EMSCC as they struggled with the National Scope of Practices and the events surrounding the H1N1 Flu outbreak, I came to believe that the Michigan Fire Chiefs needed to have a group dedicated to Emergency Medical Services. With so many events occurring in and around fire-based EMS, we need a group to act as our advocate and information conduit. The creation of an EMS Section would be the perfect vehicle to help meet these needs.

 Section Objectives:

  • Provide communication to the fire-based EMS agencies throughout the state offering information regarding current EMS issues and events
  • Act as the united voice of the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs for a variety of critical statewide EMS issues
  • Provide valuable resources for local program development such as infection control, quality improvement, and pandemic planning.
  • Promote the initiatives of fire-based EMS Systems through leadership, education, and advocacy.
